The Ellen Scarfette

pineapple motif on a scarf

This glittery silver yarn
red heart with love yarn

found it’s way into my basket one day and into my yarn stash.

What to make with it?  Something sparkly to brighten your day.  I made this scarfette and showed it to my mother.  The scarfette didn’t come home with me that day.  Luckily I had written the pattern as I created it.

I think it would probably look just as nice without the glittery yarn but you can decide that as you make it.  What color yarn will you use?  With glitter or without?

Materials:
I used Red Heart with love metallic (one skein only)

and a size 5.00mm / H crochet hook

Stitches:
you will need to know BPDC and FPDC
BPDC = back post double crochet (this just means that you are crocheting around the post_

FPDC– front post double crochet: yarn over and go around the front of the post, yarn over and pull around, yarn over and pull through the first two loops, yarn over and pull through the last two loops.
dc = double crochet
sc = single crochet
dc2tog = double crochet two together = yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, you have three loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through the first two loops, (stop) yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch and yarn over pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first two loops, (you have 3 loops on your hook) yarn over and pull through all three.

So with this scarfette, it is a self tied scarf.  I’ve created what I’m calling a “scarf belt” to pull the scarf through to keep it laying flat and secure on a person. At the ends of the scarf are pineapple motifs.  The middle or body of the scarf carries the pattern from the scarf belt and makes a fluffier scarf body.

You can get the pattern on Ravelry or on Etsy as you prefer.

I hope you enjoy making them as much as I did.  I’ve made a few since my initial scarfette.  They work up quite easily and fairly fast.
