 Lemon Meringue Toddler Halter Top

 

Gauge  

15 stitches = 2 inches

13 rows = 4 inches

 

Finished size 9 inches long

3.5 inches  across the neck/top

18 inches across the bottom 

This top will wrap around the toddler at the bottom

 

Materials: 

Cotton yarn

I used “I love this Cotton” brand yarn 

Size 4.00 mm crochet hook / G

Size 3.50 mm crochet hook / E

Hook Conversion chart

Scissors

Yarn needle 

 



Stitches: 

 

HDC = half double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, (you have 3 loops on your hook- like a double crochet) yarn over and pull through all 3 at once.

 

Sc = single Crochet;  insert your hook into the loop, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops.

 

ss = slip stitch; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop all at once.

 

DC = Double Crochet: yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops,  yarn over and  pull through the last 2 loops 

 

Inc = increase= two stitches in the same stitches

 

Picot: chain two at the top of the previous stitch and then ss into the top of the stitch

 

Trc = Triple crochet; yarn over twice, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over and pull through the last two loops.

Tie off.

Reattach yarn on the opposite side at the end, chain 35. Tie off and weave in the ends

Reattach yarn at the top corner, chain 35,Tie off and weave in the ends

Repeat on the last top corner.  

 

After all the ends are woven in, make your lemon.

Stitches are separated with commas,

With 3.5 mm crochet hook

Mc

Round 1: 10 hdc in mc

Round 2:  hdc x 2 in each stitch around (20) 

Round 3: 1 hdc, 2hdc, repeat pattern (30)

Round 4: ss into first 5stitches, sc, sc x 2, hdc, dc x 2, trc picot trc (all in one stitch) dc x 2, hdc, sc x 2, sc, ss in the next 6 stitches, sc, sc x 2, hdc, dc x 2, trc picot trc (all in one stitch), dc x 2, hdc, sc x 2, sc, ss in last stitch (40) (i did not count the picot seperately in my stitch count- if you count the picot seperately then it is 42)

 

Leaf 

mc

sc, hdc, dc, picot, dc, hdc, sc and then pull the magic circle tight and tie off.

Tie off

Leave a long tail-

Sew the leaf on to the lemon

 

Attach a lemon in the middle of the top section
