When you are babysitting and the little girl gets spills something all over her shirt, What can you do? You can easily and quickly make her a new one while she has a little nap.
The Easy Toddler Halter Top fits the bill when you need a quick and easy emergency summer shirt for a toddler who got a little messy.  This is fast enough that you can make it while she is napping. So, grab your hook and crochet with me.

Gauge  

15 stitches = 2 inches

13 rows = 4 inches

 

Finished size 9 inches long

3.5 inches  across the neck/top

16 inches across the bottom

This top will wrap around the toddler at the waist

 

Materials: 

Cotton yarn 

I used “I love this Cotton” brand yarn

Size 4.00 mm crochet hook / G

Hook conversion chart

Scissors

Yarn needle 

 

Stitches: 

HDC = half double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, (you have 3 loops on your hook- like a double crochet) yarn over and pull through all 3 at once.

 

Inc = increase= two stitches in the same stitches, in this case: 2 half double crochet in the same stitch

Row 1: HDC in the second stitch and in all the stitches across, (ch 1 and turn) (14)

Row 2: Inc, HDC, Inc (ch 1 and turn-do this at each row)(16)

Row 3: Inc, HDC, Inc (18)

Row 4: Inc, HDC, Inc (20)

Row 5: Inc, HDC, Inc (22)

Row 6: Inc, HDC, Inc (24)

Row 7: Inc, HDC, Inc (26)

Row 8: Inc, HDC, Inc (28)

Row 9: Inc, HDC, Inc (30)

Row 10: Inc, HDC, Inc (32)

Row 11: Inc, HDC, Inc (34)

at the last stitch, chain 25

Tie off and weave in the ends.  

Reattach yarn on the opposite side at the end, chain 25. Tie off and weave in the ends

Reattach yarn at the top corner, chain 35,Tie off and weave in the ends

Repeat on the last top corner.  

 

After all the ends are woven in, you can put this on your toddler.
