Doll Blankets for 18 inch dolls

These doll blanket patterns are designed for an 18 inch doll whether you have an American Girl doll or another Brand of 18 inch doll.
The first pattern is for beginners.  The next requires a few more skills.  But if you are a beginner, don’t worry about not being able to make something.  Just like everything else, crochet is about practicing.  And the only way to practice is to make more things.

Corner 2 Corner Doll Blanket

Worsted weight yarn (look for the 4 on the label)

Hook 5.00MM

Stitches:  DC = Double Crochet- Yarn over and then insert your hook into the stitch, yarnover and pull that working yarn through the stitch, Now you have 3 loops on your hook, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops.  Yarnover and pull through the last 2 loops.

Chain 6

Row 1: dc in the 4th chain from the hook,

dc in the 5th chain,

dc in the 6th chain

Row 2:   Chain 6:

Dc in the 4th chain from the hook, Dc in the 5th chain, DC in the 6th chain.

(looks a little like tiny pants – Now you have to turn it a bit – so that the loop that your hook is on is lined up with the chain space in the previous block from row 1)
and slip stitch into the space that makes  first chain.

chain 3,

3 dcs in that space.

Row:  Chain 6,

dc in the 4th chain from the hook dc, dc and slip stitch into the space

Keep going in the same way for each row until you get to row 10 and then stop increasing.

To stop increasing, don’t chain 6 at the end of the row, slip stitch into the three chain on the saide of the little block and then make your next block by chain 3 and 3 dcs, and continue the same way as before.  Continue increasing on the oposite side until you get to row 18 then stop increasing all together.  You will see that your little blanket is making a rectangle.

For the border: slip stitch into the corner stitch, chain 3 and slip stitch into the same stich,
Chain 3 and slip stitch in between blocks, continue down the side and then chain 3 and slip stitch into the corner on each corner.
