My daughter is really into Mushrooms and Cottage core clothes and accessories with mushrooms. So, I thought I’d make a cup cozy with a mushroom to put on her cup when she enjoys a cup of hot chocolate.

Gauge
7 stitches = 2 inches
5 rows = 2 inches
Finished size 3.5 by 5 inches
Materials:
worsted weight yarn
(look for the 4 on the label)
Size 5.00mm crochet Hook / H
Size 4.00mm crochet Hook / G Hook conversion chart
Scissors
Yarn needle
Stitches:
sc = single crochet; insert your hook into the loop, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops.
hdc = half double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, (you have 3 loops on your hook- like a double crochet) yarn over and pull through all 3 at once.
ss = slip stitch; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop all at once.
dec = decrease; single crochet two stitches together.
Main cup sleeve
with size 5.00mm hook
Chain 27
Join to the start (make sure it isn’t twisted)
Round 1: Sc around (26) ss into the beginning
Round 2: HDC around (26)
Round 3: HDC around (26)
Round 4: HDC around (26)
Round 5: HDC around (26)
Round 6: HDC around (26)
Round 7: HDC around (26)
Round 8: HDC around (26)
Round 9: HDC around (26)
Mushroom applique
With 4.00 mm crochet hook
Stem with white or cream
Chain 9
Ss in the 2nd stitch, sc,sc, sc, sc, hdc, hdc, hdc
Row 2, ch 1, hdc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc, sc, sc, ss
Leave a long tail to sew onto the cup sleeve
Mushroom cap
With red
Ch 8
Row 1: Sc in all across(7)
Row 2: Sc in all across (7)
Row 3: Dec, sc, sc, sc, dec (5)
Row 4: Dec, sc, dec (3)
Tie off
Reattach yarn at a corner, sc around the top of the mushroom to round it off. Leave a long tail to sew on to the cup sleeve
With white yarn and a yarn needle, make little x’s or french knots in the red mushroom cap.
