5 rows = 2 inches
Finished size 4 by 5 inches
Materials:
worsted weight yarn
(look for the 4 on the label)
Size 4.00 mm crochet Hook / G
Size 5.00mm Hook / H
Scissors
Yarn needle
Gauge
7 stitches = 2 inches
5 rows = 2 inches
Finished size 4 by 5 inches
Stitches:
MC = Magic circle
SC = single crochet; insert your hook into the loop, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops.
Hdc = half double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, (you have 3 loops on your hook- like a double crochet) yarn over and pull through all 3 at once.
DC = Double Crochet: yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops
TR= Triple Crochet: Yarn over twice and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the next 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops
Picot: chain three at the top of the previous stitch and then ss into the top of the stitch
ss = slip stitch; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop all at once.
Main cup sleeve
With 5.00mm hook
Chain 27
Join to the start (make sure it isn’t twisted)
Round 1: Sc around (26) ss into the beginning
Round 2: HDC around (26)
Round 3: HDC around (26)
Round 4: HDC around (26)
Round 5: HDC around (26)
Round 6: HDC around (26)
Round 7: HDC around (26)
Round 8: HDC around (26)
Round 9: HDC around (26)
Round 10: HDC around (26)
Butterfly applique
Round 1: Mc, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc, dc, ch 2, dc x 3, ch 2, dc x 3, ch 2, dc x 3, ch 2, (all in magic circle)SS into the first ch3
Round 2: ss into the next stitch, into the first chain 2 space (Big Wing) – 3 dc 2 tr picot 2 tr 3dc, skip the next stitch, ss into the middle dc, skip the next stitch, into the next ch 2 (small wing) – hdc x 2 dc picot dc hdc x 2, skip next stitch, ss into middle dc, skip the next stitch, into the next ch 2 space (small wing) hdc x 2 dc picot dc hdc x 2, skip next stitch, ss into the middle dc, skip the next stitch, into the next ch 2 space (Big Wing) 3 dc 2 tr picot 2 tr 3 dc, ss into the last stitch from round 1 tie off
Insect Body
Chain 13, sc into the second stitch, sc into the next 8 stitch leave 3 stitches unworked, ch 3 (this is your antenna)
Sew the butterfly onto the cup sleeve/cosy
