Free Pattern for your little Cutie: American Beauty Toddler Halter

American Beauty Toddler Halter Top

This is a fairly easy halter top with some star appliques at the top by the strings.  I also added an easy edging to the bottom.  I think it looks really stunning for a patriotic holiday outfit.

Gauge  

15 stitches = 2 inches

13 rows = 4 inches

 

Finished size 9 inches long

3.5 inches  across the neck/top

18 inches across the bottom 

This top will wrap around the toddler at the bottom

 

Materials: 

Cotton yarn

I used “I love this Cotton” brand yarn 

Size 4.00 mm crochet hook / G

Hook Conversion Tool

Scissors

Yarn needle 

 

Stitches: 

 

HDC = half double crochet; yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, (you have 3 loops on your hook- like a double crochet) yarn over and pull through all 3 at once.

 

Sc = single Crochet;  insert your hook into the loop, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops.

 

ss = slip stitch; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch and the loop all at once.

 

DC = Double Crochet: yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops,  yarn over and  pull through the last 2 loops 

 

Inc = increase= two stitches in the same stitches

ch 1 and turn (14)

Tie off.

Reattach yarn on the opposite side at the end, chain 25. Tie off and weave in the ends

Reattach yarn at the top corner, chain 35,Tie off and weave in the ends

Repeat on the last top corner.  

 

After all the ends are woven in, you can put this on your toddler.

 

Make 2 stars

Begin with a magic ring

Round 1: hdc 12x in magic ring

 

Round 2: Ch 4, sc in second ch from your hook, hdc in 3rd and dc in 4th, skip 1 hdc from first round and slip stitch into the second stitch. (this is your first of five points/corners)

Ch 4, sc in second ch from your hook, hdc in 3rd and dc in 4th, skip 1 hdc and slip stitch into the next (second corner/point)

Ch 4, sc in second ch from your hook, hdc in 3rd and dc in the 4th, skip 1 hdc from previous round and slip stitch into the next (third point)

Ch 4, sc in second ch from your hook, hdc in 3rd and dc in the 4th, skip 1 hdc from previous round and slip st into the next (4th point)

Ch 4, sc in second ch from your hook, hdc in 3rd and dc in the 4th, skip 1 hdc from the previous round and slip stitch into the beginning stitch to connect the star.(5th and finally point on the star)

 

Leave a long tail

Block your stars before attaching them.  

Attach star at each of the top corners of the blue section

 

After all the ends are woven in, you can put this on your toddler
