The Braided Molly Hat

My daughter saw me making this hat while I was working on writing the pattern for it.

She said “Mom, what are you making?”

“A Hat.” I replied.

“No, you aren’t.
It’s not in a circle so it can’t be a hat!”

So, now you know. This hat is crocheted flat rather than in the round.

The Braided Molly Hat

yarn, scissors, yarn needle, crochet hook size 5.00mm

Materials:

worsted weight yarn

(look for the 4 on the label)

Size 5.00mm Hook / H

Scissors

Yarn needle

Optional: Pom-pom

Label

needle and thread

for sewing the pom-pom and label on.

Stitches:

SC = single crochet; insert your hook into the stitch, yarn

over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops

SCBLO = single crochet back loop only, insert your hook into the back loop, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops.

BBS = Big Bean Stitch =

Insert hook into the stitch,

yarn over pull up a loop,

yarn over and insert the hook

into the same stitch, and pull up a loop, yarn over and insert the hook into the same stitch, and pull up a

loop, yarn over and insert the hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop,

(8 loops on your hook) yarn over and pull through all, chain one to close.
